To the Residents of Croydon,

We are thrilled to introduce the inception of the Records Retention Committee – a dedicated team committed to preserving the rich history and ensuring the efficient management of information here in Croydon. Guided by the principles of compliance and organizational excellence, we hope to streamline our records management practices in alignment with all relevant local and federal regulations.

Our Vision:

Our first and foremost goal is to establish a well-structured records management framework that not only respects legal requirements but also safeguards the historical legacy of Croydon. By fostering a culture of responsible record-keeping, we aim to ensure easy access to vital information while promoting transparency and accountability.

Key Objectives:

  • Legal Adherence: Our committee will meticulously review both NH RSA 91-A and 33-A (Right-to-Know laws and Record Disposition, respectively), ensuring that all our activities adhere to federal and state regulations. This will not only mitigate legal risks but also uphold the town's reputation as a responsible custodian of information.
  • Efficient Organization: We are dedicated to categorizing, indexing, and archiving records in a way that makes retrieval efficient and accurate. By doing so, we empower town departments and residents alike to access the information they need promptly with easy access.
  •  Preservation of History: Croydon's history is a treasure trove of stories that have shaped our community. Through proper archival practices, we endeavor to preserve documents and records that chronicle our town's journey, making them available for current and future generations to explore.
  •  Resource Optimization: An essential facet of our mission is to rationalize resource utilization. By identifying records that have fulfilled their legal retention requirements, we will free up valuable space and reduce unnecessary administrative burdens.
  • Community Engagement: It is my belief that an inclusive approach to records management is best. We will actively engage with town departments and residents, as well as the Croydon Historical Society, to gather insights and recommendations, ensuring that our efforts reflect the needs and aspirations of our community.

We are  exited to begin this journey together in order to preserve our past, enhance our present, and fortify our Town's future.

Warm Regards,
